SD& USR Office, NCU hold tracing event aside Hundred Blossoms Brook for local community

On January 4th, 2026, the Office of Sustainable Development and University Social Responsibility, National Central University hold the "Tracing the Source of Hundred Blossoms Brook" workshop. Centered on the brook passing NCU campus, the event guided children and parents from local communities to explore its source, and learn about abundant plant ecology aside. 

This event attracted a total of 11 participants, including 4 children and 7 parents. The children were all elementary school students.

The workshop was held in afternoon, at Guoling Branch Trail, Gao Shuang Village. Through a series of interactive stations, participants learned about the relationship between Hundred Blossoms Brook (on NCU campus) and the Guoling Branch Trail. The activity highlighted that both waterways are tributaries of the Shimen Reservoir. 

Led by NCU students, children and parent walked 500 meters through the trail, getting to know the local ecosystem and plant features at different checkpoints along the way. Interactive games introduced participants to local flora, including Camphor and China Berry trees along the path and Hong Kong Orchid trees by the channel. They also learned to differentiate similar plants based on specific characteristics.

The activity concluded with a hands-on session where children used found natural materials to create art, presenting their work and botanical choices to the audience. This "edutainment" approach connects the public with their local environment, effectively raising awareness for biodiversity protection.
