專案成果

National Central university has established nine biodiversity survey hotspots within and around the campus and has preliminarily identified 216 animal species (including four endemic to Taiwan and nine protected species).

Furthermore, through the "Biodiversity Governance Baseline" established on and around the campus, the Office of Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility is conducting further investigations into the "Blue-Green Ecological Corridor" within and around the NCU campus. For example, the streams in the Qiaxi area and the grasslands in the North Unit of Faculty Residence Halls, as well as the landscape of the "Shimen Grand Canal Branch Trail" extending outward from the "Hundred Blossoms Brook" near the Student Affairs Office.
This investigation aims to uncover the abundant biological resources and migration history behind these ecological corridors, providing a foundation for the university administration to design low-carbon tourism routes and propose ecosystem management hypotheses.

National Central University (NCU) actively protects and expands its local ecosystems and biodiversity through baseline ecological governance and habitat restoration. The university has established 9 biodiversity monitoring hotspots across campus, identifying 216 animal species, including endemic and protected species.

By integrating the Qiaxi river, wetlands, and surrounding vegetation, NCU created a vibrant "Blue-Green Ecological Corridor" that connects the campus with neighboring communities. Ecological surveys reveal that the Qiaxi stream area hosts 35 bird species and a high Shannon diversity index of 3.12, reflecting a thriving habitat with low human disturbance. These research-backed initiatives provide a solid foundation for ecosystem management and low-carbon ecotourism, reinforcing NCU's commitment to biodiversity preservation.
