Ocean Conservation Local Guardianship Project

The Service-Learning Center, National Central University leads concrete environmental actions through the Ocean Conservation Local Guardianship Project funded by the Ocean Conservation Administration, Ocean Affairs Council. Connecting academic learning with community engagement, NCU collaborates with regional partners—including Xpark, the Taoyuan Fish Weir Association, and the Wild Bird Society of Taoyuan—to promote marine conservation and plastics reduction.

Initiatives include hands-on sea turtle rescue training, traditional fish weir restoration, and habitat creation for nesting Little Terns. By engaging over 130 students, faculty, and local residents in field observation and habitat stewardship, NCU turns service-learning into practical ecological action, safeguarding local marine ecosystems and advancing sustainable coastal development.
